Phil Christensen

For over 30 years, Phil Christensen has been a vocational Worship Pastor, but at age 60, a fresh call grabbed his heart.
He was troubled as he observed an extraordinary number of worship leaders experiencing burnout or moral failure. God lead him to Standing Stone, which was seeing the same thing.

All ministry leaders live in a fish bowl, but worship leaders carry the added weight of spotlights, subwoofers, and being tasked to draw large, enthusiastic crowds, typically 170 times each year. Those expectations can be lethal to a young artist and his or her family. The flame-outs arrive in forms as predictable as the tragic carnage left behind. Perhaps most frustrating, after the crash, the majority say that simply talking and praying with someone "safe" would have made all the difference. This stuff is preventable.

For six years, Phil wrote a monthly column for Worship Leader Magazine, interviewing hundreds of praise-song writers, worship leaders, Christian artists and pastors. Many of these interviews were extended into two books for Kregal Publications. He's also served as a Worship Development Missionary, has written for Training Resources, Rev, CCM, Integrity Music's website and many on-line sites.

Phil's been married to Mitzi for 40 years; they have four grown children and a perfect granddaughter. His formal training was at Multnomah School of the Bible, and he's pursing a late-life counseling degree to better "shepherd the shepherds."
