Carlos & Wendy serve as Community & Outreach pastors at a multi-congregational church in Santa Ana, California. They just transitioned into this new role this year (2023) from pastoring a congregation into shepherding more Pastors and helping other congregations build evangelism teams within the church to demonstrate God's Grace and hope into all communities.
Carlos & Wendy have ministered for over 16 years as compassionate shepherds, gifted teachers of God’s Word and exemplary leaders in the community. They lead a laundromat ministry called “Laundry Love” which consists of paying for the cost of washing clothes for those in need, along with offering grocery bags and assisting in getting many off the streets into programs or community homes in order to get their life back on track.
They have expanded ministry and have partnered up with other outreach organizations such as the Orange County Rescue Mission in Tustin, Churches in SA, Orange & Irvine. Also, recently have joined forces with the FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) in Santa Ana. Giving the opportunity to warn these young high schoolers what NOT to do (drugs, premarital sex…). Carlos and Wendy both played sports in High School. The goal is to help this next generation be accountable to their Christian club at school and keep their relationship with God active.
During his years in ministry, Carlos has faced times of isolation, loneliness and betrayal at a level he had never previously encountered before. Despite having gone through deeply challenging times in his former life brought on by crime, violence and prison, nothing has compared to the pain and suffering he experienced while serving in ministry. Carlos understands it is not an easy walk and appreciates that pastors need mentors, leaders and genuine friends. He knows God did not intend for anyone to do His work and will on their own and that we really need one another. With that in mind, Carlos has a heart for the pastors, community leaders, missionaries and recovery home directors who need a place of transparency without judgment; a safe place to share victories and defeats.
Carlos and Wendy are blessed with a blended family: Russell (29), married to Kimberly who recently gave birth to their first granddaughter Vera in Sept. 2022. Newlyweds Gracie (26) and Hugo (Carlos had the honor of performing their ceremony) and Eddie (21) who has been working on himself and his future. Believing that he will find his calling and purpose this fully in Christ. And of course, there’s also Ranger, a black Labrador retriever. We think he likes people more than other dogs.
Our foundation and relational scriptures are: Colossians 1:28-29 “So, we tell others about Christ, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all the wisdom God has given us. We want to present them to God, perfect in their relationship to Christ. That’s why I work and struggle so hard, depending on Christ’s mighty power that works within me.”
