For Carol, life has been full of surprises. She married her high school sweetheart, Denny, with the plan to be an architect’s wife with a secure future as he joined his dad’s architectural firm. It was within their first year of marriage, simultaneously the Lord worked in their hearts and called them to full-time vocational ministry. And so began the journey that resulted in 45 years of ministry and seeing again and again how God fulfilled His promise in Psalm 37:4 – Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.
After both Denny and Carol graduated from Cedarville University, their 1st ministry involved moving away from their hometown and family to a rural town in the snowbelt of Western New York. Carol quickly became involved as a youth pastor’s wife, living in a “cottage” next to the church where they entertained young couples, had youth group activities and held young women Bible studies.
This first ministry experience was foundational to the years that followed with opportunities to serve in other ministries which surprisingly, brought as back to our hometown and family, even 15 years in Carol’s home church. She has enjoyed many different roles as a pastor’s wife: choir director, pianist, special events coordinator, women’s ministry leader and administrative support. Knowing the ups and downs of life, she has a heart to come alongside the hurting, encouraging the discouraged and cheering on those who are serving. As a volunteer shepherd, she is excited to offer support and encouragement to ministry wives.
Denny and Carol have 4 sons, 4 wonderful daughters-in-law and 10 grandchildren. She is grateful, and pleasantly surprised, all her family live close by. She loves it when the house is full with conversation and laughter. Carol especially enjoys the time spent with the grandkids, whether it is playing games, teaching piano or doing art projects. It’s just another reminder of God’s promise in Psalm 37:4 – He is full of surprises.
