Phil understands the unique pressures ministry leaders feel. Whether it’s a season of ministry transition and relocation, addressing conflict in the church, overcoming broken trust, or dealing with chronic stress and fatigue, Phil experiences reliance on the Lord and support from fellow believers. He loves to be a fountain of encouragement and wisdom for pastors facing similar challenges.
The Lord blessed Phil with parents whom both trusted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and raised him in the Christian faith. Phil’s career has spanned many roles from pastor to marriage counselor and trainer, to financial coach, to business manager and owner. A common thread throughout his life and career has been helping people live with purpose, from a plan, in the peace of Christ.
After a 10 year career in Information Technology and Business Leadership, Phil sensed the Lord calling him to vocational ministry in 2003. Phil earned his BA from Washington State University (Go Cougs!) and his MDiv from the Lutheran Brethren Seminary. Phil has pastored churches in Alexandria, MN, Lynnwood, WA and Mesa, AZ.
Since 2015, Phil has had the blessing of walking alongside pastors and their families in regional and national ministry care through his church denomination, the Church of the Lutheran Brethren (CLB). Over these same years, Phil also had the joy of supporting pastors serving in other church networks and evangelical bodies.
Phil is currently a candidate within the Institute of Christian Conciliation (ICC) as a Certified Reconciler. He has witnessed how the Gospel has brought godly contrition, confession and reconciliation to beautifully broken individuals and families. In his time at Ramsey Solutions, Phil honed his coaching skills through helping families become greater financial stewards of God’s resources in their lives.
Phil has been married to his best friend and wife, Wendy, for more than 28 years. They have two young adult children. Phil is a curious learner, coffee connoisseur, youth baseball umpire, and loves getting out on the trails with his bike!
