Scott Henderson

Scott Henderson is a Student and Family Ministry lifer. What is that? Someone who has spent nearly 35 years working with students and their families. My role as a Shepherd with Standing Stone is to walk with those leaders who care for our kids, students, and families.

Student and Family Ministry leaders are often overworked, underpaid, and feel alienated from the church and the leadership they have been called to serve. Scott works to care for those who feel lonely, are struggling, or just need a caring voice in the day to day battles of ministry. Through hospitality, care, and gentle wisdom, Scott walks with those leaders to promote health in the ministry and families of other shepherds. His shepherd’s heart is evident in every relationship.

Scott, by the grace of God, has survived several generations of ever changing student and family ministries, mostly through a sense of humor and walking out the idea: “Do not think more highly of yourself than you ought; but in humility count others more significant than yourself.” That calling creates community relationships where everyone is cared for.

Scott has been married for 34 years and has ministered alongside Melissa, in both Oregon and Tennessee, in various sized ministries, from small church, church plants, and large church. He has 2 amazing grown children, Trenton, who is married to Lauren, who reside in Knoxville, Tennessee, and an amazingly creative daughter, Hallie, who is in college. Scott is a huge college football fan, cheering for both the Oregon Ducks, where he had season tickets for 20 years, and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, as that is where his son attends. He is a collector of old toys and loves a good superhero movie. There is nothing he enjoys more than dinner out with friends and a great cup of coffee.
