Mike Osborne

Mike Osborne remembers when he felt like throwing in the towel. It was the late 1990s. He had been the senior pastor of a large church in Florida for several years, but the church was coming apart. Elders couldn't agree on worship style. A few key staff members either quit, left for another church, or had to be fired. Gossip and mistrust choked the church's outreach. Giving was plummeting. Mike felt depressed and ashamed. Fortunately, a pastor he knew in a nearby city reached out to Mike and reminded him of the gospel. This friend listened, prayed with Mike, and helped him find strength in the love and grace of God. Mike persevered in pastoral ministry, thanks in no small part to this caring friend. And now Mike is helping other pastors stay in the battle by serving as a field shepherd with Standing Stone Ministry.
Originally from a small town in South Carolina, Mike felt called to pastoral ministry soon after his conversion in 1975. He was ordained in the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) denomination and pastored churches in several states for over thirty-five years. Now, as a Standing Stone field shepherd, Mike is able to extend his pastoral care ministry to church leaders who need encouragement and counsel.

Mike's wife Suzy, whom he met in college, grew up in Orlando, Florida. She and a friend of hers run a small landscaping business. She loves caring for her plants, beautifying homes with flower beds, and staging home interiors. Mike enjoys reading, watching movies, playing guitar, traveling with Suzy, and spending time with friends and family. Though no longer pastoring a church, Mike often gets invited to preach in Orlando area churches. He also works part-time as Dean of Students at Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando. He and Suzy have four adult children and twelve grandchildren whom they adore.
