Melvin Steed

Melvin grew up in Henderson North Carolina on a farm. He is the youngest of seven. He joined the U.S. Army immediately after graduating from high school. While serving in the Army he accepted Christ as savior and began the call to preach the gospel of Christ. After serving in the military for six years Melvin moved to Columbus Georgia in 1983 where he continued to live out the call of ministry. He served as Associate Pastor over outreach for 33 years. In 2017 he then launched a new ministry that he continues to oversee today. In 2021 Melvin became a Widower after being married for 43 years. Melvin earned a Business degree and received his Doctoral degree in divinity.

Over 40 years of ministry Melvin has seen leaders suffer from the loss and disappointment that comes with ministry. He has a passion for helping people grow and encourages them to continue with the call on their lives.

Melvin now serves with his wife Susie, together they have five children and 12 grandchildren. They discovered the need to be there for others and had already begun ministering to other Shepherds when they learned about SSM. Melvin is excited to see the plans that God has for his life unfold.
