Larry Turner

Larry was raised in a Christian home and gave his life to Christ at the age of sixteen. He felt God’s call at the age of eighteen but it wasn’t until he was 35, that he entered seminary, and three years later was ordained and began his pastoral career in June of 1996. Prior to ordination, he served as a youth pastor and a young adult pastor for almost a decade. In addition to his Master’s in Divinity, Larry has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, a Master’s Degree in Counseling and was a professional counselor, prior to attending seminary. During his ministry career he served churches in Virginia, Alabama and Tennessee. He retired from pastoral ministry at the end of 2024, from Harmony Church of Bartlett a non-denominational congregation that he and a small steering group started in 2012. He then began his journey with Standing Stone Ministry in April of 2025.

Larry has used his gifts to serve as the Spiritual Director of the Memphis Emmaus community since 2010, as well as the Living Waters Emmaus Community in Alabama. He has served on numerous Walks since 1998. He has also served as an active board member in both communities and continues to provide counsel to many individuals. During his years of ministry, he has always sought to mentor other pastors, to encourage them in the hard times and rejoice with them in the good.

Larry has been married to Beth since July of 1982. They have been partners in ministry since the very beginning. They have two grown sons. Chris, their oldest, married to Dawn who made them grandparents in 2017 with the arrival of their grandson, Beckham. Their youngest son, Justin, married to Katie and they have 2 beautiful daughters, Savannah Lynn arriving in 2020 & Chandler Kate in 2022. He enjoys spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren! He and Beth enjoy time at the beach, eating out with friends, ministering to others and worshiping together each week.

Larry stated that this was the most exciting time of his life! Being able to use his education, experience, failures and successes to be a resource person for ministers as they work to build God’s Kingdom.
